CELTIC TARGET IN NEW CONTRACT TALKS

Dundee United goalkeeper Ben Siegrist is reportedly in talks over a new contract at the Scottish Premiership outfit amidst transfer links involving Europa League campaigners Celtic. This is according to the report from the stables of the Daily Record which stated that an agreement over a new contract is not a done deal.

Swiss shot stopper Siegrist is attracting interest from the south of the border as revealed by the abovementioned media outlet and he’s not the only Dundee United player linked with a move away from the club ahead of the January transfer window. Apart from Siegrist, Dundee United stars Ian Harkes and Jeando Fuchs are also on the radar of other clubs.

At the start of the year, Celtic were strongly linked with a move for Siegrist as reported by Swiss newspaper Blick. Then, it was stated that Celtic had been on his trail for a while.

Swiss goalkeeper Siegrist is into the final year of his Dundee United contract and he can start to negotiate for a free transfer move to foreign clubs at the start of the new year. In the summer, Siegrist talked about the interest from Celtic as revealed by the Daily Record. According to him, he will take a closer look at the situation if there was any interest from Celtic.

In the summer, England international Joe Hart signed for Scottish Premiership giants Celtic on the back of his spell at North London club Tottenham Hotspur. With the addition of Ex-Manchester City shot stopper Joe Hart, Celtic have four goalkeepers on their books.

Scott Bain, Vasilis Barkas and Conor Hazard are the other goalkeepers at immediate past Scottish champions Celtic.

Despite the failure to get a move to Celtic in the summer, Siegrist has continued to impress in the colours of Dundee United on the Scottish Premiership scene. He has seven clean sheets in 14 games this season.
