Dedryck Boyata says that he has moved to the Scottish club

Celtic’s new signing Dedryck Boyata says that he has moved to the Scottish club in order to play regularly in the Champions League.

After managing to win yet another Scottish Premier League title, Celtic will be playing in the European competition in which they have suffered several disappointments over the last decade. Manager Ronny Deila’s priority for the upcoming season will be to do well in Europe and one of the ways he plans to do this is by using players likeBoyata. The Manchester City youth team product has a lot of experience of working with players who deal with two matches every week.

Even though he made only a handful of appearances for City since his debut in 2009, the 24-year-old has amassed enough experience by just training with players like Sergio Aguero and Yaya Touré. Celtic will be paying just £ 1.5 million in transfer fees, but it could rise to £ 2 million depending upon the success of the defender. Even if Celtic do not reach the knockout stages of the Champions League, it is almost certain that they will be part of the Europa league even in the worst case scenario. This is exactly whatBoyata needs at the moment and he is extremely happy to be part of a title winning team. Continue reading “Dedryck Boyata says that he has moved to the Scottish club”

Celtic are on course to achieving success in the league

Celtic are on course to achieving success in the league and cup once again after managing to extend their lead in the Scottish Premier league after a 2-0 win over Partick Thistle.

This victory sees the club have a seven-point advantage and a game in hand in the last two months of the campaign. Such good run of form has seen manager Ronny Deila’s stock rise in the last few months. When the Norwegian came to the Scottish club as the replacement for Neil Lennon, it was feared that Celtic may slide down the table due to the lack of experience from Ronny Deila.

After managing to overturn the initial poor form, Diela is happy to see the results on a consistent basis. However, he has admitted that there was a point in time when he thought about leaving the club. It would have come just a few months after coming into the job, has Deila failed to cope with the pressure of keeping the club in the Champions League and doing well in the league. This has all changed in recent months, as they came very close to reaching the latter stages of the Europa League. The prospect of securing a cup and league double sounds enticing indeed. Celtic losses made them dropped in Table

Celtic suffered a setback in the league title race after being overtaken by Aberdeen just before New Year’s Day.

Ronny Deila’s team failed to get a victory against Ross County at home, while they watched Aberdeen secure a 2-0 victory over St Johnstone. Even though Aberdeen have played a game more than Celtic, this is seen as a major psychological advantage for the table leaders.Deila, though, has pointed to the statistics to say that Celtic have been the superior team in the Scottish Premier League this season. Celtic have been far more entertaining than Aberdeen.

While they have managed to score 34 goals from the 18 matches, Aberdeen have scored only 29 from one more additional match. Celtic have also the better defensive record of the two with just 12 goals conceded from these matches. Deila is under no illusion that Celtic will regain the top spot when they win the match against Partick Thistle. This match was scheduled to take place on New Year’s Day, but it has now been postponed. As a result of this, the Scottish Premier League has just witnessed a seachange with neither Celtic nor Rangers being top of the table for the first time in 22 years.

“So far we have been the best team in this league. We have scored most and conceded fewest. If we win our game in hand we will be two points ahead. We know what we have been doing is the best in the league but we have to keep progressing. It is still in our hands, if we win all our games we’ll be league winners. It is early though to start talking about it. There are 19 games left, 20 for us, so we’ll see how things are when there’s one month left,” said the Celtic boss.
